Location and Ownership
The Las Aguilas Project is located in the province of San Luis, Argentina approximately 800 km to the west of Buenos Aires. The Property is accessible by paved and dirt roads from San Luis, the provincial capital, approximately 35 km to the east. The Project consists of 33 concessions totaling 57,597.8 ha. (575 squared km). The Company has the option to acquire up to 70% interest in the Property by joint venture agreement from the current owner, Marifil S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marifil Mines Ltd. (Marifil).
A resource estimate includes 3.264MT indicated grading 0.67%NiEq and 1.339MT inferred grading 0.59%NiEq at a cut-off of 0.4%NiEq*, based on 79 historic and current diamond drill holes on the property.
The mineral resource was developed in two parallel nickel and copper sulphide bearing ultramafic/mafic bodies each containing a mineralized body. The Las Aguilas East Zone and the Las Aguilas West Zone are separated from each other by 300 meters and are identified as the established resource on the Property.
Geology and Mineralogy
Las Aguilas Project is located in the southern sector of a distinct Argentine geological (and metallogenic) province known as the "Sierras Pampeanas", a series of mountain ranges stretching north-south for more than 1,000 km over three provinces. The Sierras Pampeanas are underlain by crystalline rocks of late Proterozoic or early Palaeozoic basement rocks intruded by later igneous granitoids (mainly Carboniferous and Devonian).
The nickel-copper-platinum group elements (Ni-Cu-PGE) mineralization at Las Aguilas is located within small, variably differentiated mafic/ultramafic bodies intruding the Pringles metamorphic complex.
The main mineralized zones are associated with a fine-grained orthopyroxenite, consisting mostly of orthopyroxene, amphibole, biotite, and variable proportions of plagioclase.
The bulk of the mineralization is composed of pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and pentlandite in a matrix-supported texture, with some fracture-controlled massive sulphide veins. Pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite occur as disseminations, patches of net-textured accumulations, as well as mineralized fractures and veinlets found throughout the intrusion and until the western contacts with the garnet-amphibolite gneisses. However, the gneisses contain norite intercalations that are not mineralized.
The sulphide content varies between 10% and 50% sulphides (15% to 20% on average). Significant PGE mineralization, particularly represented by platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd), has been identified at Las Aguilas, as well as minor copper and gold contents.
Two mineralized intrusions separated 300 m from each other, Las Aguilas East and Las Aguilas West, have been identified on the Property.
Mineral resources that are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability. Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Prophecy Platinum executes a quality control program to ensure best practice in sampling and analysis. Samples are cut and split for assay with the remaining sample retained for reference. Blanks, Standard Reference Material (SRM), and duplicates were inserted into the sample stream every 20th sample. A duplicate sample is taken every 20th sample of core. The selected sample is sawn in half and then sawn in half again. The quartered core is then placed into two different sample bags with different sample numbers and sealed. The SRM material comes from Natural Resources Canada and Analytical Solutions Limited. These were inserted into the sample stream immediately after the second duplicate. The SRMs used are WMS-1a, WPR-1 and WGB-1. Sample Blanks are obtained from two sources; granodiorite from a local quarry and garden marble from hardware stores in Whitehorse, Yukon. A Blank sample is inserted into the sample stream after the SRM. Assayed samples are transported in sealed and secured bags for preparation at ALS Chemex Prep Lab located in Whitehorse, Yukon. Pulverized (pulp) samples are shipped for analysis to ALS Chemex Assay Laboratory in Vancouver, B.C. ALS Chemex is an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited laboratory and registered under ISO 9001:2000.
Quality assurance and quality control are monitored using scatterplots, Thompson-Howarth plots and statistical analysis to ensure duplicates, blanks and standard data are reliable and indicate robustness of overall results. ALS Chemex quality-assurance procedures are also included in this process."
